For all the murder mystery enthusiasts, here comes another narrative visual Murder mystery inspired by Classic Chinese Art- Tales of the Mirror. Coming all the way from developers Cotton Game, distributed by Lilith Games, this game depicts a beautiful backdrop of the Ming Dynasty Hangzhou and Nanjing to bring the story to life with the use of evocative artistic details, indulging viewers to imagine themselves in an ancient Chinese painting.

Tales of the Mirror is a tale of murder and deception, adapted from the historical Chinese literature, takes through the rich history of the Ancient Chinese era along with its entrancing visual style, animation, and story. The game was officially launched on the 12th of August, 2021, and is available for download on platforms- Google Play, Apple Appstore, and Steam (PC). The game is offered in languages, English, Japanese, and Chinese ( Simple and Traditional). However, the game is not free to play and comes with a varied price tag on each of the platforms respectively.

About the Game

The game set in the Ming Dynasty will place players in the character of Peh Jun, who has to solve a series of mysteries in the mid and late Ming Dynasty, in the south of Yangtze River. The main objective of the story is to decipher the mystery behind a gruesome murder that begins with a golden bird.

The initial story begins with Peh Jun enjoying the scenic view of the lake while he comes across a mysterious lady Jin San-niang, who narrates her bitter story, and with the face of Peh Jun, players have to uncover the secrets, reveal lies, and crack puzzles before time runs out.

The game takes players on a journey resembling an aesthetic life-like painting filled with intrigue and magic. As players embark on a journey to uncover the mystery in their quest for truth, they’ll also possess an ancient magic mirror, using which they can reveal certain events and facts which otherwise remain hidden. 

Players also need to interact with other characters in the game, and with the virtue of these conversations, players can draw vital clues and evidence hidden in their dialogues which can further help them to solve the puzzles and mysteries. However, players must be guarded with their interaction with other characters, as with every step the players make, might end up landing them to face huge consequences changing to any of the possible outcomes of the story.
