The game development company, Bandai Namco, has recently announced that the game Sword Art Online will be getting a mobile adaptation with the subtitle ‘Variant Showdown’ in honour of the anime series’ 10th anniversary. It is scheduled to be released this year and pre-registrations have already opened up for it.

Sword Art Online is a popular anime game and has earned its name through its inciting 3D arena-based combat theme which features all the characters from the anime. With the amount of mobile and console games this series has had, it is no wonder that the series is talked about a lot among the diehard anime fans.
SAO Gameplay and its relation with Variant Showdown
The storyline follows the main character, Kirito, and his friends. They involve themselves in the super competitive in-world game known as Cross Edge. It is surrounded by rumours that suggest if one loses to an anonymous and mysterious player, a part of their real-life memory will be lost. This is also mainly the plot of Sword Art Online in general and hence, it makes it even easier for the fans and the newcomers to get accustomed to it.
Its trailer is out, which features small snippets of its gameplay, carefully side-stepping any major details. Currently, it is only available for pre-registration and other major details are yet to be out. There may or may not be a closed beta test before the final release of the game. However, constant updates on the game have to be maintained. Like a cherry on top, it is an advantage that the game will be a free-to-play title and will have in-game currency that will allow them to trade it for wishful items. They will also be able to earn many rewards as such.
It is very easy for the newcomers to enter the world of Sword Art Online, especially through this new upcoming release. Till the final release, check out their twitter handle for updates!
