NieR Reincarnation was released in Japan on February 18, 2021. It was no doubt that it will eventually become a popular title. But what nobody expected was that almost everyone in Japan would get addicted to this title.
What is NieR Reincarnation?
NieR Reincarnation is a role-playing game that has been developed by Applibot and published by Square Enix for Android and iOS devices. The game is set in the NieR universe. In the game, players get to play as a young girl who is guided through the Cage by a ghost-like being, unlocking memories of the past while avoiding a Dark Monster.
Increasing popularity of NieR Reincarnation in Japan
As mentioned before, NieR Reincarnation made its debut on the Japanese App Store and Google Play on February 18. Within the first week, it was downloaded over 5 million times. Then from February 23 to March 4, it was downloaded another 5 million times.
Square Enix, on the official Japanese twitter handle of NieR Reincarnation, shared this milestone of the game reaching 10 million total downloads.

And this is just the beginning; the game is still viral, gaining thousands of downloads with each coming day. What is more astonishing is that the entire population of Japan is 126.5 Million, and out of these, 72.5 Million users have a smartphone. This basically means that NieR Reincarnation has been downloaded on every 7th smartphone in the country.
