In case you haven’t, famous historical figures are resurrected into the current era and fight each other in this anime series. There are many storylines in the game that feature in the anime, so fans will have a lot of fun playing through them all. If you’re new to the game and want to learn more about it, we’ve got the perfect beginner’s guide and a few tips and tricks for you. Let’s get into it!
Understanding the battle mechanics:

When it comes to battling, it is a turn-based card system. You have your characters or servants whose cards you have to choose. It’s worth noting that you can only choose three cards per turn. You have the advantage of obtaining an extra move when you choose the cards with the same servant.
You’ll notice on the cards that there are three different types of cards, they have their own uses and functions. They are as followings:
- Quick Cards – Quick cards you have a more number of crit stars.
- Arts Cards – You can fill their NP gauge with art cards, and the procedure will be faster than normal in this game.
- Buster Cards – Buster Cards allow you to do massive amounts of damage to foes.
Servants and team formation:

As previously stated, the characters you used are known as Servants. Fate/Grand Order also has a gacha system, where you can keep getting more characters. For summoning, you do need to have Saint Quartz or Friend Points.
When it comes to team formation, you can deploy five servants at once. The first two slots are for your DPS, the third slot is for a support servant, and the last two are only deployed if the one’s on the battlefield lose their hp. Each servant costs a set number of points to add to your team, and the number of servants you can have is limited. The higher the quality, the more expensive it is.
Classes and their Affinities:

There are nine different classes in the game. They are as follows: Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Assassin, Caster, Berserker, Shielder, and Ruler. When an Affinity is strong against another type, it indicates it will do more damage to them while taking less. They will receive more damage from them and deal less harm to them if they are weak. They are the strength and weaknesses of every class:
- Saber: Strong against Lancer; Weak against Archer
- Archer: Strong against Saber; Weak against Lancer
- Lancer: Strong against Archer; Weak against Saber
- Assassin: Strong against Rider; Weak against Caster
- Rider: Strong against Caster; Weak against Assassin
- Caster: Strong against Assassin; Weak against Rider
- Berserker: Strong against All types; Weak against all types
- Shielder: Neutral to All types
- Ruler: Resists all types except Berserker, Shielder, and Ruler.
Skills, Master Skills, and Commander Spells:

Every single Servant in Fate/Grand Order has a unique skill that can be used in the battle as an advantage. The quests can provide you with stuff to improve your skills. The cooldown duration is likewise reduced as the skill level is increased. The commander spells and master skills are for when you’re in a tough position. When things around you begin to deteriorate, you must utilize these abilities, which will benefit your servants.
Craft Essence:

Craft Essences are items that can be used by the player in the middle of a battle. These items improve the servant’s combat abilities as well as its combat survivability. The craft essence has several benefits, like increasing their HP, the effects of their cards, and more. However, some craft essences might have negative side effects. As a result, applying a craft essence necessitates some forethought and technique, as well as pairing with the appropriate servant. A merging mechanism is used to improve the craft essence. You can increase the power of the craft essence of your choice by combining it with other craft essences.
Doing Quests and Farming EXP:

When you open the main menu, you can access the story quests for the game. It will grant you Holy Grail and a lot of new servants as well. You can also redo the story quests for free and gain Saint Quartz. Just like any other RPG, you also need to grind for your dailies to get rewards. There is also a separate section for every servant’s backstory that you can play through and gain a bunch of power-ups for that specific servant’s skills. There are also limited-time events that occur in the game which give you exclusive event items and a bunch of rewards.
Ending Note:
Overall, Fate/Grand Order is an really interesting and fun game. There are a lot of aspects to explore, and it’s not repetitive in any way. It’s new game tactics, and depth in gameplay makes it a lot more interesting than you think. So, if you wish to download the game, you can do so from the Google Play Store and the App Store.
