The famous game Garena Free Fire was banned in India on February 14 2022. But it is not even a Chinese game, then why was it banned? Everything you need to know.
What is Garena Free Fire?
It is one of the top battle royal games in the world. It is an online shooting game where you try to survive a battle royal and become the last person to stand. The game was developed and published by ‘Garena International I‘. It was very popular already but when PUBG was banned in India in 2020, Garna filled the space for many Indian players. The game has over a billion installs and got pretty decent ratings too. A few days ago Players started facing problems regarding login and other issues. But the reason was already out, India have banned Garena Free Fire.
The reason why it is banned in India
On February 14, 2022 ‘Garena Free Fire’ got banned in India. Recently the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to ban 54 Chinese apps including the game. The big question that comes to mind is, was it a Chinese game? The answer is ‘NO’, it wasn’t. The game was developed and published by ‘Garena International I’ which was founded in Singapore. So why was it removed then? There’s no definite answer to this question. But all the apps which were banned is seen as a security threat by the Indian Government. So there may or may not be some connection between the game and China. Currently, the game is no longer available in ‘Google Play’ or ‘App store’ for download.
One month before all of this ‘Garena International I’ was facing two lawsuit against Krafton who is the developer of PUBG. According to Krafton Garena copied many elements of PUBG. Can this be a factor of Garena’s Ban, who knows? But yet there is another confusion. Why Garena Free Fire MAX is still available to download? Yes as of now, Max version is still available for download. The reasons behind the ban are not clear, the company also didn’t make any announcement regarding this.
