There was much excitement amongst Indian gamers on July 2 when BGMI became available for download on Android devices. However, Apple users were left out in the cold somewhat given that they were not even able to pre-register for a release of an iOS version.
Since then, Apple enthusiasts who are fans of the game have been eagerly awaiting news of a release. There is still no definite news but, as announced in the latest BGMI iOS release, Kratfon has hinted that the launch will happen soon.
Gamers optimistic about the iOS launch
Although nine out of ten smartphone users in India use Android devices, many diehard gamers are fans of Apple. This means that they are still waiting to try BGMI and many of them are frustrated by the delay. However, they are also optimistic that the launch will not take too much longer to happen.
Much of the speculation regarding the potential launch of BGMI for Android has come from Kronten, owner of and player for Team GodLike Esports. The gaming influencer has suggested it could be a little while before BGMI launches for Apple devices but that the release will happen sooner rather than later.
Krafton is certainly supporting this viewpoint. This is hardly surprising given that the game has already proven popular with Android users through the beta process and since its official release on that OS.
Appetite for BGMI is out there
Given the current fast-rising use of smartphones in India, and the ever-increasing popularity of esports, there is likely to be a strong ongoing appetite for games like BGMI. This is borne out by the fact that, according to Krafton, around 20 million gamers tried out BGMI during its early access phase.
Krafton is already taking advantage of this popularity by announcing the updating of the game with a new weapon, the MG3 light machine gun. The weapon has two firing modes, single and automatic. Its average damage rate is 40 hit points.
There is more good news for BGMI. Tarun Gupta, the founder of the online e-sports platform Ultimate Battle, has said that the game will be added to the All India Esports league (AIEL).
Given this positive initial reaction, it seems the future is bright for BGMI. This in turn bodes well for future collaborations and new content.
Of course, this does not resolve the current situation for users of Apple devices in India. They have yet to experience the excitement of BGMI and have not yet had an opportunity to provide feedback.
While there is no definitive answer as to when BGMI will come to iOS, common opinions, and comments from Krafton, suggest that it will happen in the near future. This is good news for gaming enthusiasts in India who do not use an Android device and are desperate to see what all the fuss is about. Let’s hope the remaining wait is a short one for them.
