Web3.0, Meta, new consoles and other new gaming trends are contributing to the rapid changes being see in today’s gaming industry. Gaming aficionados have more choices than ever in today’s gaming market including cloud-based games, VR-enabled consoles, casino games like Springbok Casino real money games, and more. Many countries which are just now able to provide mobile access to remote areas are seeing their own gaming industries expand exponentially which is contributing to the industry’s evolvement worldwide.

Some of these gaming trends have been years in the making but the cumulative results are being felt only now. They include:

Mobile Gaming

Revenue from mobile gaming has overtaken PC gaming as players find that gaming on tablets and cell phones gives them the best of all worlds – a user-friendly gaming experience, plenty of games from which to choose, access to many of the newest and most popular games and more.

In the United States, 2022 mobile games’ revenue has already reached a record $41.7 billion. The number of U.S. mobile video game users is now higher than ever thanks to digital innovation and technological advances. These elements combine with a growing gaming culture which was facilitated, in great measure, by the COVID pandemic of the previous 2 years.

In addition to online casino gaming (slots and real money casino games like poker, roulette and craps), a number of games that were previously limited to console access are now available on mobile. They include PUBG: Battlegrounds, Minecraft, Fortnite Battle Royale and Apex Legends.

As the decade moves forward, it’s expected that the convergence of digital platforms will continue to fuel the development of the gaming industry on the small screen. According to the Technavio “Mobile Gaming Market by Platform and Geography – Forecast and Analysis 2022-2026” market analysis report, the mobile gaming sector is expected to witness a YOY growth of 11.56% this year.

To keep up with the growing demand, mobile vendors are focusing on launching innovative gaming solutions. For instance, Activision Blizzard, an industry leader, now offers games that were previously available only on console for mobile. These games include World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, Candy Crush, Diablo, Hearthstone and Overwatch.

Blockchain

The gaming industry is embracing blockchain which provides gamers with a more secure, efficient and transparent way to access virtual assets and engage in digital transactions for a improved overall user experience. Gamers prefer blockchain because they feel that it gives them more control with reduced transaction fees, lowered risks and better currency exchange rates.

Cybercurrency also has the advantage of offering anonymity so users can play real money games and make in-game purchases without worrying about having anyone watching their transactions.

According to Forbes, blockchain will change the way the gaming industry will deliver  technology in the future. In particular, it will have a significant impact on consumer products as bug companies define their development strategies to equate physical products that we buy in stores with the brand experience in the digital sphere. This will be most evident at first with NFTs which are already changing the traditional financial industry and gambling technologies.

Cybercurrency owners, innovators and content creators will be able to make use of a marketplace where NFTs can be exchanged without any oversight of traditional financial institutions. This, in turn, could mean an end to the monopolistic reign of the industry’s leading game developers and publishers.

VR and AR

The arrival of virtual reality and augmented reality games has been eagerly anticipated by gamers for a number of years and now, thanks to 5G, there are more possibilities than ever as bandwidth with less latency and higher speeds seem to be upon us.

The VR and AR technologies help to create realistic images, sounds and other sensations that enhance the imaginary gaming setting so that the gamer feels physically present in the environment. Machine learning and artificial intelligence are playing a big part in how new games incorporate VR and AR in the gaming experience. Special effects will soon turn traditional gaming events into new and even more interactive experiences.

Cloud

Revenue growth from cloud gaming is estimated to reach 30% by 2025 as cloud technologies drive innovation, become more agile and save money. Cloud gaming allows users to access games more easily and more inexpensively. With games on cloud, there’s no need to download software or access hardware. Users can play cloud games a wide range of computer hardware, including consoles, mobiles, PCs and tablets.

Cloud technology allows the user to make use of the streaming power of a powerful remote computer that streams the game right to a home computer or mobile device. That means that gamers can now able experience gaming on powerful hardware which allows for more actions and more involvement.

Mega-companies such as Microsoft and Google are investing heavily in cloud gaming which gives an indication of the importance that the industry is placing on the technology.

Graphics Design

Users often determine whether they will play online games based on the games’ attractiveness and visual appearance. The advances in graphic design for games gives designers the ability to create games with realistic 3D imagery for hyper-realistic visuals that players want to see.

Billion-dollar investments that are being made by the world’s biggest tech companies in gaming technology emphasize the future picture that players, developers, gamers, publishers and others in the gaming world will be seeing in the coming years.
