CD Projekt Red and Spokko released an official announcement about The Witcher: Monster Slayer, which will be launched globally on July 21. Pre-registration is now available on the Google Play store.
CD Projekt Red acquired independent mobile developer Spokko in 2018, and Spokko is now responsible for developing and publishing the game. Using augmented reality, you will explore virtual monsters and fight them in Monster Slayer. You will also take part in “story-driven quests” that are inspired by the Witcher series, propelling you through epic adventures that guide you into the core of what it means to become an elite monster slayer, according to an initial announcement back in August 2020.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is now up for pre-registration
Google Play provides pre-registration options for Android users. As a reward, you’ll unlock the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword, as you kill monsters, you will receive an additional 10% experience points from the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword in-game. It’s a location-based, role-playing game in which you play a witcher, who is tasked with slaying some of the continent’s ugliest creatures.
Although you won’t be fighting the White Wolf himself in this upcoming mobile AR title, you’ll still be able to wield your silver and steel swords against a wide range of beasts and bandits, a bit like Pokémon Go but more bloody.
Several trailers have been released thus far. From the trailer below, you can see how the idea of the game is explained:
It is quite similar to other AR games, yet so different
It looks a lot like Pokémon Go and The Elder Scrolls: Blades, except that combat, involves blocking and swiping your sword in a directional manner. Trying to take down werewolves, drowners, and wyverns should make you think twice before resorting to bombs and magical signs. As with the earlier Witcher games, you’ll also be able to use bombs and magical signs as needed.
The Witcher: Monster Slayer differs from Pokémon Go, which requires you to simply catch monsters, since you must time your attacks and defend accordingly, plus you must use potions to make your Witcher abilities stronger. You’ll have to track down clues for quests, and then battle your way to the end of each adventure.
Your character can be trained to become an elite monster-slayer by crafting bombs, upgrading weapons, and training to become an elite monster-slayer. A trophy can be claimed from a fallen foe with each victory.
The recent return of spring may be the perfect remedy for those of us who were stuck indoors for much of last year, as we roam city streets, parking lots, and forests in search of a Striga, Kikimore, or Leshy to dispatch.
