According to recent research issued by the data analyst site Sensor Tower, mobile gamers spent $44.7 billion in the first half of 2021, a 17.9 percent rise from the previous year. In-game purchases on Apple’s App Store hit $26 billion, up 13.5 percent year on year, while Google Play witnessed a 24.7 percent year-on-year gain to $18.7 billion.

According to Sensor Tower, PUBG Mobile was the world’s second-highest-grossing mobile game in the first half of 2021. Tencent‘s offering generated over $1.5 billion in sales and will surpass $5 billion in revenue in March 2021. It’s worth noting that the game is currently three years old.
Another Tencent product, Honor of Kings, which is extremely popular in mainland China, raked in more than $1.5 billion in player expenditure, making it the highest-earning game in the first half of 2021. With approximately $848 million in revenue, Genshin Impact by MiHoYo ranked third on the list.
Garena Free Fire, another battle royale game, scored eighth on the list as the second-highest paying game on Google Play.

Battlegrounds Mobile India or BGMI for short might also make a mark on this list in the near distant future. The game is currently in beta, and a public release of the game will come out. Speculators suggest that BGMI, after public release might have the chance to become the highest-grossing game.
But, at the same time, the arrival of new competitors to the Mobile Gaming market is growing. Even with the likes of games like Valorant to make a debut sooner or later. Even some major companies, like Netflix, and PlayStation are planning on doing the same.
