PUBG Mobile introduces a brand new game mode called Traverse- Insectoid. In simple terms, it’s ‘Honey I shrunk the kids’ or ‘Ant-Man’ becomes a battle royale. You probably know what this mode means now. You can shrink down to the size of an insect and travel through wormholes in this mode. This mode comes as an addition to this season which is focused on insects, with the Royale Pass having insect and bug-related skins and more.
Insectoid Gameplay in PUBG Mobile
So what exactly do you do in this mode? We’re here to answer that. You play on the classic Erangel map, which has five labs that are marked on the minimap. Each lab has a Quantum Transformation Device, Energy Store, and a Wormhole Device. Each of these has a different function and all three are available in each of lab. If you want to go Ant-Man, then the Quantum Transformation Device is what you want to look for. This is what you will use to transform into an insectoid form or return to human form. As an insect, you have the ability of flying at low altitudes.
Now you may think that if you’re in insect, you’ll get obliterated by human-sized enemies. But Tencent and Krafton have thought this through. Insectoids can damage only other insectoids and insectoids are not damaged by regular ammo. Of course the catch here is that humans can damage insectoids with pans. So if you have practice swatting mosquitos, it’s going to help you win that chicken dinner in this mode.
Weapon and Supplies
Coming to the fighting and gathering supplies part of the game-mode, you will not have access to your backpacks. But you will be provided an all-powerful homing missile launcher. The icing on the cake here is the ammo. You have UNLIMITED ammo. That’s right. UNLIMITED ammo. You’re free to shoot homing missiles to your heart’s content, making battles as explosive as they can be. Remember, your missile launcher will damage only other insectoids and you can easily be swatted by the pan. So fly carefully and shoot smartly.
The next thing you want to know is that there are Luminators scattered across the map. You must collect these because they will come in handy to access the other two devices present in the lab. They give you Light Points.
The Energy Store will allow you to exchange Light Points for combat supplies. If you get 40 Light Points, you can use the Wormhole Device. This will allow you to teleport between the five different labs on the map. Easy to fast travel to the circle.
The aim is still to be the last man, well last insect standing. You have time to enjoy this exciting and new microscopic game-mode till the 5th of July. Go quantum, get tiny, shoot missiles, dodge and get that chicken dinner.
