Who is Xerneas?
To put it simply, Xerneas is a legendary Pokémon. It is a pure fairy type. It was introduced in Generation VI. Xerneas does not evolve to any other form till now. It is also the mascot of Pokémon X. Xerneas is a part of the aura trio, which includes Yveltal, and Zygarde. In the aura trio, Xerneas plays the role of life-giver, Yveltal as the destroyer, and Zygarde as the one who maintains order. It is the 716th Pokémon in the Pokedex.

Xerneas has eternal life and can share it too. This sharing can be seen when Xerneas’s antlers light up in seven different colors. But, if Xerneas uses up too much of its energy, it transforms and sleeps as a tree for the next 1,000 years.

Appearance-wise, Xerneas is a quad-legged, stag-structured Pokémon with four pairs of antlers on its head. It does have two different modes, an active mode, and a neutral mode. Its main body is black and has a blue stripe going down its back. It also has a short and bushy tail. It has an ability called Fairy Aura. Learn more about Xerneas.
Xerneas In Pokémon GO
In Pokémon GO, Xerneas is only available during the Legendary Raids that are occurring from 4th to 18th May 2021. It will be important in Pokémon Go because he will be much required when fighting Yveltal, the Destroyer in the Aura Trio, who will be available in raids after the event halts.

The Best Xerneas Counters In Pokémon GO?
Xerneas is a mono-type of fairy, and in Pokémon GO, Fairy-type Pokémon are boosted when it is cloudy outside. Xerneas is weak to strong steel and poison-type Pokémon. Granted, you will be fighting with other trainers, but Xerneas has a lot of health, so having 5 or 7 friends along with you will help for the better.
The best counters to Xerneas are:
Mega Gengar

The Mega Gengar will be the best non-shadow counter for Xerneas. So, it is the best Pokémon to have in the raid. Mega Gengar was available just before Halloween in 2020. Lick and Sludge Bomb will be the best set of moves to have in the raid with the Gengar. Just make sure, to use the Sludge Bomb, as it will be very effective.
Metagross

Metagross is a steel and psychic type Pokémon, meaning that Metagross is also very effective against Xerneas because Metagross is a psychic type, it will take half damage from a majority of Xerneas’s attacks. So, Metagross would be the marathon runner, if we were going to compare. Metagross is the final evolution of Beldum.
Other Pokémon
Metagross and Mega Gengar would be the best Pokémon to take into the fight for Xerneas. Even, if you don’t have enough Mega Energy, no problem! Even a normal Gengar would do wonders against Xerneas. But still here are some Pokémon that are also good against Xerneas.
- Mega beedrill
- Genesect
- Excadrill
- Roserade
- Jirachi
- Mega Venusaur
- Mega Charizard Y
- Heatran
- Ho-Oh
- Dialga (Supremely Rare)
If you are still not sure what Pokémon to take, the Shadow Pokémon that were rescued from Team GO Rocket would also do wonders. Their stats are boosted, and at the same time, you can change their moves during special events or Elite TMs.
Ending Note
The Xerneas raid event has started. So buckle up and try to catch Xerneas with your friends or some unknown trainers. Moreover, have fun! Get in the groove and bring that Pokémon home!
