Niantic and The Pokemon Company’s 2016 collaboration features a new in-game event starring the Pokemon Zarude. This news and event come close to the Netflix release of the 23rd film in the pokemon franchise titled “Pokemon The Secrets of the Jungle,” or known locally in Japan as Pokemon Koko. The movie has released in Japan near the end of 2020 makes its western audience debut at home thanks to Netflix.
This event gives Pokemon fans a chance to expand their Pokedexes with the arrival of Zarude in-game. Zarude is obtainable in-game by doing research tasks for the in-game Pokemon professor, Prof. Willow. Completing all these tasks will allow the player to have an event encounter with the mythical pokemon itself.

The pokemon go encounter rates for this event have been changed as well as the encounter rates for pokemon featured heavily in the film have been increased. This pokemon include (in order of ascending dex number in-game):
- Explorer Pikachu
- Hoothoot
- Larvitar
- Combee
- Drilbur
- Cottonee
- Dwebble

Similarly, the pool for the raid bosses has also been changed to fit in with the movie’s theme.
One-star raids:
- Explorer Pikachu
- Larvitar
- Roggenrola
- Foongus
- Rufflet
Three-star raids:
- Lickitung
- Chansey
- Pinsir
- Ludicolo
- Flygon
As for the movie itself, it will arrive on Netflix by the end of the week on October 8th do go to the official website for more details.
As another tribute to the Pokemon anime, the classic villainous duo of Team Rocket’s Jessie and James also make a comeback in Pokemon Go as encounter battles for the player. This is following an appearance in the movie.
