Pikmin Bloom, a new AR-based game that relies on the user’s movement and location, is now available in Canada and the United States. The game is somewhat similar to Pokémon Go, and here is what you need to know about it!
Following their hugely successful collaboration for Pokémon Go in 2016, Niantic and Nintendo have once again teamed up to develop Pikmin Bloom. The game is similar to Pokémon Go since it too requires the players to step out and walk to progress. The difference is that here, movement is in the focus even more! The game came out in Australia and Singapore on the 27th of October, and today it has been released in Canada and The USA as well!
About Pikmin Bloom:
Pikmin Bloom is the next game in the Pikmin series, and although it strays away from the series a bit, it looks pretty fun! The game, like many other games from Niantic makes use of Augmented Reality along with the player’s location. The game requires players to step out and explore their environment, and while they do so, they will be planting petals. As you keep walking, these petals will then grow into plant-like creatures called Pikmin. These Pikmins will walk along with the player as well, and as you progress through the game, more and more Pikmins will join you in your walk!
Just like Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom will also provide the users with data regarding their activity and movement. The only difference is that while Pokémon Go provided the users with this data at the end of a week, Pikmin Bloom will do it at the end of each day! To play the game, Android users will have to download Google Fit for it to be able to track the user’s activity, while iOS users will need to enable Apple HealthKit permissions for the same. Niantic will be bringing monthly events to the game as well, to engage the players even more!
How to download:
From today, the game is available in The USA and Canada and is gradually rolling out globally as well! Android users can download the game from Google Play, while iOS users can do the same from the App Store.
Conclusion:
To conclude, Pikmin Bloom comes across as a fun and colorful experience. To the veterans of the series, it might seem like the game is straying away from its roots a bit, which is true, but the overall package still leaves a pretty positive impression. AR-based games have been pretty popular and hopefully, Pikmin Bloom too will be another example of this. Finally, what do you think about the game?
