About the Game
Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent (CotC) is developed by the combination of Square Enix and Acquire and got published by Square Enix Co., Ltd. This is a role-playing game and is a prequel to the original game Octopath Traveler which came in October 2020. It’s a turn-based JRPG system and unlike its predecessor, this game allows up to eight characters to play at a time. Just like the original, this game takes place on the continent of Osterra with three stories that are a prequel to the original, Tytos the Hero, Auguste the Playwright, and Herminia the witch of Greed.
Basic Gameplay for Beginner
Just like any other app/game this one too asks you to grant certain permissions. After doing so, the game introduces itself as a “Single-player RPG”. Now, you have to Tap to start and agree to their terms of service and privacy policy and you have to be older than 16 years old to access it. After everything checks, the game loads data and asks you to register with “SQEX BRIDGE” which saves all your game data, this is optional. Then, you have to download additional in-game data worth 1.5GB.
Finally, the game begins to explain the game’s story in Japanese voice with English text. We’re gonna let you experience it while playing so, no spoilers. Once the story ends, you’ll be assigned a character and the game tutorial teaches you basic controls for walking, running, fighting, etc. Then comes the crucial part where the game will ask you to choose a story that you’d like to play further. Choose what you seek, Power, Wealth, or Fame. Each story is set in different places and has to be played separately but is interconnected. Once completed, the player can play the other stories too.
Patience is key
This game has a lot of stories to tell and it is unskippable but, it is important for a player to carefully read them out since this game itself is a story and you’re a character in it. Since this game is full of quests, you will learn different stories for every new one but in the end, everything is connected. Don’t worry though, these stories are interesting enough, and tap to skip the typing.
Master the fighting
In this story game, you’ll face lots of enemies. Master the fighting skills from the very first tutorial of the game. All of your enemies will have weaknesses so try to exploit them first. Also, use the collected 3 boost points and attack with them to cause more damage to your enemy. Finally, use Party Boost to compile the powers of characters fighting with you to attack.
Be an Influence
Influence various characters in the game to join hands with you in your journey. As the story builds, your quests and enemies become tougher and you need allies for your battles. To allure them, start by guiding the new travelers with the power of your ring. Go to the menu, click on Guide and spend the rubies that you won on the quests to get them. This will increase the influencer score that helps you get information from the town.
