In a recent interview with ‘Hollywood Reporter’, It was said that Netflix is interested and might just release games and other things of Squid Game for fans due to overwhelming but positive requests.
What is Squid Game? Why is it so popular?
Squid Game is a blockbuster Korean drama that was released in September 2021. The show went viral overnight and it’s still trending in the top 10 in many country’s Netflix. The show is about financially troubled people who take part in a series of games to earn a big lump sum amount. The twist is if you lose in the game, you will lose your life too. And Because of this Dark thrilling concept of the game, it became one of the ‘biggest series launch’ with 111 million views in less than a month breaking the ‘Bridgerton’ record of 82 Million.
There are 6 games in the drama, that were shown in the series. The 6 games are Red Light Green Light, Sugar Honeycombs, Tug-of-war, Marbles, Glass Stepping Stones, The Squid Game. All these games are authentic old Korean kids’ games. In the end, there will be only one winner who will survive and get all the prize money.
A Video Game Inspired by the show might be Released
In a recent interview with Netflix executive Minyoung Kim, it was clear that Netflix is interested in making games and other things related to ‘Squid Game’ because of overwhelming but positive responses from fans. Netflix made games on popular series in the past too like ‘Stranger Things 3: The Game’. So it isn’t a big surprise if they do the same for ‘Squid Game’ too. Even many unofficial video games of the Korean drama were released and were certainly popular because of the show. Even many streamers had seen to be playing ‘Roblox Squid Game’.
There is no official announcement yet about when and where will the game be released. Though if the news is confirmed then It can be expected that the game will contain all the 6 games that are shown in the drama.
