The multiplayer PvP game, LEGO Star Wars Battles have been called off following a two-year beta phase. Developed by Playdemic in collaboration with LEGO, the game initially made its first appearance as a beta in September 2019. The game was available for testing in various countries like Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sweden, and Malaysia, and underwent several updates in correspondence.
LEGO Star Wars Battles was a real-time, multiplayer PvP game. It featured arenas inspired from the Star Wars universe, Lego human figurines, and Lego building towers. Players could make in-game purchases and upgrade their characters, troops, vehicles, and other upgradeable elements. The game consisted of several arenas where players defend their own territory and strategically attack on enemy bases conquering them to proclaim victory.

Official Closing Announcement
The game was officially taken down on July 1st, 2021. Players took the news by storm when they started receiving in-game notifications saying, “We are sorry to say the Lego Star Wars Battles will be closing. The game will no longer be available for download and officially closed on Thursday, July 1st”.
The message went further on mentioning that the players won’t be able to make any in-game purchases henceforth, and were asked to spend their remaining currency before the game went offline officially on July 1st.
Probable reasons for shutting down?
- Despite gamers having a positive feedback regarding the game,it failed to gather much attention and lost its existing players resulting in overly long matchmaking.
- There were new alternatives which pushed the existing players to choose them over a game that is yet to be released even after remaining in beta for so long.
- The game failed to meet player’s expectations in terms of updates ,player ranking system.
EA acquired Playdemic last month and this could be one of the probable reasons behind the decision to not continue with any progress regarding the game. However, this could also be a hint to something new in making, the statement being equivocal.
