However, we discover that the kingdom is in ruins and swarming with orcs that have completely taken over the kingdom. Now, the objective of the game is very clear, we have to drive the orcs away and restore the kingdom to its former state.
In this article, I’ll provide a brief gameplay guide on Kingdom Maker and some tips and tricks to progress quickly in the game.
Beginner’s Guide
Kingdom Maker’s game mechanic is pretty straightforward. The game features elements like family creation, kingdom building, battles, etc. The first and foremost thing you need to know about your kingdom is the noble family. They are the main characters of the story and consist of a male and a female character, the King and the Queen. You can customize their appearance at the beginning of the game. The King and Queen can also interact with each other resulting in a baby. The baby can grow to become a Captain, Merchant, or Explorer. Apart from this, you have to build new infrastructures and farm for resources like Food, Silver, Wood, Silver, and Stone. Then use these resources to train your troops and build an army to attack enemy camps and orcs to grow your empire.
Tips for Kingdom Maker
1. Keep the Production Buildings Running
The one thing you will need to keep the kingdom running and progressing is economic resources. Resources like stone, lumber, and food are required to build more infrastructure or train new soldiers. So, to keep the resources coming, never let any of the production buildings sit idle. Always keep them in production mode.

2. Know Your Troops
As you already know combat is an important part of the game. And no combat can be executed perfectly without strategic troop management. Before you train your troops and assemble them you need to know that there are 4 different types of troops in the game. Now each of them has unique perks and abilities. These 4 types of troops are Infantry, Ranged, Mounted, and Siege Machines. While making an army, try to keep a balance between the types of troops.
3. Assigning Commander
To lead your army you will need a commander. This commander can be anyone from the noble family. Now each commander has some unique skills that can provide a buff to a specific type of troop they are leading. For instance, a noble Captain’s skills can boost the ranged troops’ health by 20%.

4. Assigning Officer
You can also assign a sub-commander or officer to an army who will lead a sub-unit of troops. These officers can be assigned from the Champions. There are three types of Champions Engineer, Miner, and Officer. Each type of Champions provides a boost to a specific type of troop. Every class of Champions serves a different purpose. For example, when you are mining you should assign a Champion with a Mining specialty or assign an Engineer when you are trying to breach enemy gates.
5. Keep Your Armies Trained
The kingdom map is filled with enemy camps and hostile orcs. And you have to attack and conquer them to expand your kingdom’s power and influence. So, once you have attacked an enemy and used your army, immediately queue up another batch of an army as they usually take a long time to train. By keeping them trained in time will help you attack more camps and progress faster in the game.
