miHoYo the developer behind the hugely popular “Genshin Impact” is coming up with another game! Genshin Impact was one of the biggest games of 2020 and has already amassed over 10 million downloads on Google’s Play Store. Following its success, miHoYo then came out with “Tears of Themis”, and which also was downloaded over a million times.
Riding the waves of success, miHoYo is now working on a new game, Honkai Star Rail. The news was leaked as the game was accidentally uploaded to the App Store. What further confirms the presence or development of the game is the fact that miHoYo recently got “Honkai: Star Rail” trademarked. Many users believed that this game was going to be the successor to Honkai Impact 3, but now it looks like that is not the case. Another game is being worked upon by miHoYo as well, which is Honkai Galaxy, and people believe that will be Honkai Impact 3’s successor.
What we know about Honkai Star Rail:
As soon as the game was accidentally put up on the App Store, the ever-so-vigilant members of the gaming community pounced upon it. These people were therefore able to get their hands on the game’s footage. Some even datamined story-related text, gameplay, artwork, and characters before the Honkai Star Rail client was taken down.
Looking at these leaks, it looks like the game will bring to the players an open-world experience. Unlike other Honkai games, this one also seems to be a turn-based RPG. Honkai Star Rail also follows miHoYo’s habit of reusing their previous characters, as faces from previous games appear here as well! In Star Rail the player will be forming teams of 3 just like Honkai Impact. In the leaked footage, enemies were seen with element symbols over their heads, which means that countering types will be one of the game’s main features. The game will also feature a gacha system like all miHoYo games.
