Every game anniversary comes with a slew of prizes to thank players and keep them coming back to play for years to come. The first anniversary of Genshin Impact is coming up on September 28th, and fans were wondering what incentives miHoYo would deliver in honor of the occasion.
Well, miHoYo did come out with a list of rewards and saying that fans are not satisfied would be an understatement. Genshin Impact is the top-earning RPG across Google Play and App Store and earns an average of $ 175 million per month through only players spending on in-game purchases. The game also won the Google Play awards for 2020 as the Best Game. Alongside these, there are many more achievements that the game got just by the players playing and supporting the game.
It’s not to say that miHoYo didn’t deliver anything from their end, all of their updates up until now have been fun. But it being a whole successful year for them, it’s natural that fans would be looking forward to big rewards like free 5* characters for their choice or enough primogems for guaranteed summons for banner characters. But alas, it was neither of those, but something very underwhelming.
Genshin Impact Anniversary Rewards List:
It is to be noted that miHoYo has termed them to be community events, which means you need to work to get rewards.

“An Unforgettable Journey” Web Event
The event would start on September 28 and end on October 10. This event will involve a recap of the player’s journey and earn primogems and more through that. Players can also exchange rewards with their friends. Rewards include Primogems, Mora, Mystic Enhancement Ore, and Hero’s wit. The amount of each is unspecified.
“A Message in Time” Web Event
The event would start on September 29 and end on October 7. This event revolves around players creating their own greeting cards for the anniversary. Once done, they have to submit it into a raffle system. The rewards here are distributed based on percentages. 10% of the players will win Blessing of Welkin Moon, and the rest would win 100,000 Mora. Blessing of the Welkin Moon gives 90 primogems every day and can be bought in the in-game store.
Anniversary Congratulatory Art Repost Prize Giveaway-
The event will start on September 25 and end on September 29. It’s basically a raffle where you have to share and win prizes. The prizes include 3 iPhone 13 Pro Max(s) and cash prizes.
Genshin Impact Anniversary Event “Recording Your Anniversary Memories”-
The event will start on September 28 and end on October 7. There has been no information mentioned about it yet. The rewards include 100 Primogems for 1000 winning players.
Genshin Impact Anniversary Event “Let’s Solve Word Puzzles”
The event will start on October 7 and end on October 13. There has been no information mentioned about it yet. It could be a word puzzle, as the name suggests. The rewards include 100 Primogems for 1000 winning players.
“The Promise of a Worldly Encounter” Cosplay Submission Contest
This event will start on September 22 and end on October 20. This is a straightforward cosplay contest, in the “The Promise of a Worldly Encounter” event bubble, which already has had an Art, Photo, and Video Competition. You can submit your cosplays on the HoyoLab website. The rewards will include Primogems, Airpods, Razer DeathAdder V2, and Fateful Gift Series Merchandise Set of any character.
Backlash regarding the Anniversary Rewards:
Now that you know what the rewards include, you can see why there is a massive outrage across all the platforms, including HoyoLab. The comments under the post announcing the rewards are nothing but loyal players expressing their disappointment in miHoYo. The outrage continues through Reddit and Twitter alike.
As a player myself, I share the same sentiment. I have played the game since launch and for it to reach massive amounts of success and have gacha rewards feels like being ripped off. miHoYo gives rewards to like the smallest percentage of their player base, and above that, you need to create art to earn massive rewards feels a bit off. It would be such a waste of time and money for players to spend hours crafting artwork only to fall short of the winning bracket. And the same artwork serves as a promotion for miHoYo. The argument of the artist can get better compensation as a commission stands very strong. However, I, along with many other players, remain hopeful that more rewards will be announced during the Livestream on September 28th.
