Counterside: Line Battle Arena is an urban fantasy SRPG title developed by Studiobside. The game was launched globally just last month in May 2022 and it was the perfect scenario for anime fans. The game involves anime characters who can be recruited and upgraded. The main storyline of the game is, that you are the CEO of a mercenary group that fights an extra-terrestrial entity called counter side. Counterside also has the option to play PvP battles named Gauntlet battles after successfully clearing episode 2 in the main story. Counterside gameplay mechanics is fairly simple and you can get a hold of it by simply playing it for some time. However, there are certain aspects of the game which are confusing and can be better understood with help of a guide. In this article, I will share some tips about the game that will not only help you to have a better understanding but also help you while making certain in-game decisions.
Tip #1 – Understand Employee Roles
Each character or employee has a unique role in the game. There are 4 main roles which are Striker, Ranger, Defender, and Sniper. Now, the damage dealt to enemies and received increases or decreases depending on the roles of the characters fighting. For clarification,
- Strikers are stronger against Rangers
- Rangers are stronger against Defenders
- Defenders are stronger against Snipers
- Snipers are stronger against Strikers
Therefore, to have an upper hand in battles you have to select your employees accordingly. You will be able to see your enemy’s role before the fight so select your employee line-up that is stronger against the enemy’s class to deal maximum damage.
Tip #2 – Use Quartz Sensibly
Quartz is the most premium currency in Counterside. Although it might not seem like that with the amount of quartz you obtain in the starting phase. But as the game progresses you will realize how hard it becomes to earn quartz. So while you have the stock of quartz in the beginning spend it very wisely so that you have enough late when required.
Tip #3 – Finish Your Daily and Weekly Missions
Make sure to always finish as much as daily and weekly missions as possible. Finishing the missions gives you a lot of necessary rewards that you will need later in the game. In addition to that, you also receive mission points. After collecting a certain amount of mission points you will receive chests that also contain resources like gold, quartz, EXP, employment contracts, etc. You can check your missions from the button on the left side of the game menu.
Tip #4 – Participate in Events
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of resources in Counterside. You can never have enough of them in games like this. That’s why you need to do whatever possible to collect those resources in the game. And what better way to do that than to play the ongoing events. Yes, you can earn a lot of useful rewards just by completing simple tasks in the events. So always be sure to never miss an event.
Tip #5 – Refresh The Shop Daily
You can refresh the items available in the shop a maximum of 5 times per day. Each time you refresh it will cost you 15 quartz. But each time you will also get new items to purchase. Use your gold to purchase the necessary items like training data, APT cores, appraisals, etc. It’s recommended you do this every day when you are starting out as it will give you a lot of resources that are necessary for the game.
Tip #6 – Play Simulations Daily
You can do your attack, defense, and anti-air training in the simulation. You can do each training twice every day for which you receive useful rewards like appraisals, skill training data, APT cores, etc. So always make sure to play the simulations every day.
Tip #7 – Farm for Units
After you complete episode 1 in the main story of the game you unlock side stories. You can farm certain characters and resources by completing the side stories. So early on in the game focus on playing the side stories for new characters and useful resources.
Tip #8 – Level Up Your Characters
Always make sure to level up your characters. As you move ahead in the game you will encounter stronger enemies and, to counter them you will need to level up your characters. Leveling up a character in this game is a bit different from other games. To level up you will need to go to HQ from the game menu then to CEO’s office and finally to Salary Negotiation. Here you can select the character to level up and click Start Negotiation. To level up you will require appraisals which you can obtain from events or purchase from the shop.
Tip #9 – Upgrade Character Skills
Upgrading your character skills is also very important for the same reason as above. You can unlock and enhance new skills in your characters that will definitely give you an upper hand during fights. To upgrade character skills you will have to go to HQ > Lab > Skill Training. Then you can select the character you want to skill up.
