Clash of Clans- one of the most acclaimed strategy games that never goes off the trend, has unveiled balance changes for August in their latest maintenance update scheduled today. The popular game title earlier this month celebrated its 9th Anniversary offering its players exclusive hero skins, scenery, pretty-looking 9th-anniversary cake obstacles, and a flaming fiery statue from the season challenges.
However, Supercell believes in giving their devoted players the most out of this anniversary month and has announced plans for implementing balance changes for certain troops and defense units, also stating the reason behind each change.
Balance Changes Update
Supercell on August 11, announced over an official tweet about the balance changes. These changes were to be implemented after a maintenance update that took place earlier today. Players were also notified 15 minutes prior to the update process began, via a follow-up tweet on the game’s Official Twitter handle along with an in-game countdown notification.

Balance Changes mostly aim towards reforming in-game defense units, heroes, or troop units, which is done for providing players better game experience. Balance Changes for August 2021-
- Dragon Level 4 – hit points increased from 2600 to 2700
Reason- The intention behind increasing HP is to support Th8 players that mostly use dragons as the main troop. Dragons are of great effectiveness for Th8 attacks however lose their effectiveness in transition to Th9.

- Valkyrie Level 9 – hit points increased from 1850 to 1900
Reason- Supercell has considerably increased hit points for Valkyrie in order to provide Valkyrie as an attractive troop option for Th14 players.

- Seeking Air Mine – projectile speed increased from 2.5 to 3.5 tiles per second
Reason- This Balance change in Seeking Air Mine, which is supposedly one of the dangerously damaging defence units, aims for the defence mine attacks to be more consistent and predictable against Battle Blimps ( siege machine) that have a movement speed of 2.25 tiles per second.

- X-bow range while in ‘Air and Ground Mode’ increased by 0.5 tiles from 11.0 to 11.5
Reason- This meta is one of the most dangerous defence units to face. Although it already causes heavy damage to air inclined attacks, most X-bows are set to Ground mode. This Balance update will help X-bows set on Air and Ground mode to land heavy damage against air attacks.
Also, since in-game statistics do not show decimal places for the range, the X-bow range will still show as 11 tiles, even though it’s been made to 11.5 tiles.

The developers have further notified that due to this Balance change update, there will be changes altogether in the game mechanics as well, and so all replays will get wiped out and will remain inaccessible after the maintenance update has taken place.
Following this update, it can be considered that players will be able to try out new combinations of troops keeping in mind the change made in the game meta.
Hence this update is well justified and a righteous patch included by the Supercell team.
