Battlegrounds Mobile India, the game that is covering the news headlines nowadays, has some speculation around its arrival. If you don’t know of the news yet, Battlegrounds Mobile India is the Indian version of the famous PUBG Mobile. This new version has features aimed at the Indian consumer. One of the main ideas upon its comeback was the carryover of the prior data that a player played on when PUBG Mobile was not banned in India. But, as always it might not go as planned.
What is heard of Battleground Mobile India?
The game is currently taking the gaming community in India by storm, from influencers to different streamers who have been talking about it. Granted, there is no official release date yet. But, pre-registration already started on May 18. Learn more on pre-registration and how to do so here.
One lingering question in the minds of players and die-hard fans alike is whether or not the player data from PUBG Mobile gets carried over? The answer to this question is not known, as Krafton, the game’s developers have not said anything about data or the carryover of it.

Speculators suggest that the game will launch by June 18 or in that range. Fans, all around India hope to bring along their stats, skins, rewards, and many more from PUBG Mobile into the new game. But, it might be in vain.
The speculation of data carrying to Battlegrounds Mobile India
Now, firstly, the belief that the original PUBG Mobile is making a return to India is completely false. People believe that Battlegrounds Mobile India is a rename of PUBG Mobile or PUBG Mobile India. Due to this reason, people think that a carrying over of data should be simple because people think that it is an Indian version of the game.
However, The upcoming Battlegrounds Mobile is different. The game comes from the South Korean Developer named Krafton. Whereas, the banned PUBG Mobile is a game developed and operated by Tencent Games. Both companies are different. So, people conclude that the game cannot haul the data from one game to another.

So, equally, we have one side of gamers who think that the game will have all the prior data, whereas the other side thinks not. On checking the Krafton version of PUBG Mobile, reports have shown that the initial data is still intact.
Pre-register for the upcoming game here.
Should you have hope for Battlegrounds Mobile India with your prior progress?
Personally speaking, I would say don’t place that much hope in the carrying over of data. Here is the reason why. Firstly, reports have shown that prior game data still exists. Meaning that your prior progress is all intact and well alive.
But, people miss the point of the creation of Battlegrounds Mobile India. Krafton developed the game without any ties to PUBG Mobile to prevent another ban on the game, as it gets released sooner or later.
This intention can be seen clearly, as the company has asked streamers, YouTubers, and influencers to call the game by its name, and not as PUBG Mobile. Krafton wants to make sure that the upcoming game is a separate title.
Moreover, carrying over the data would be a massive task. Firstly, the amount of data that will have to be transferred. Then, the game will have to get an ‘ok’ to release the game. Furthermore, data privacy was the reason why PUBG Mobile was banned.
So, it seems highly unlikely that Krafton will ask for account data and progress from Tencent Games, which were banned under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. Risking player data to the whole game seems a bit risky.
Ending Note
It is highly unlikely that Battlegrounds Mobile India will come with all of the prior progress and player data. But, we can still hold on to a candle of hope, as we cannot predict what lies ahead in the path of life. Happy Gaming!
